Weronika Siupka:
My works aim to authenticate and appreciate post-industrial and urban architecture in Upper Silesia, Poland. The graphics are created out of admiration for objects that build the genius loci of a place, while testifying to the identity of the region.
The graphics are from the series Fragments of the World and Auto da fé.
I present an image of an abandoned, desolate world. In my creative work it became important to show « dead » places and mutilated objects, which were cut out of the general bloodstream of the city. By depicting the wounded reality, I wanted to give it meaning and a new quality. The idea of the series was to create a communication platform based on the belief that the language of the image is a natural activity of man, constituting his anthropological feature Man-artist, since the Neolithic beginnings of his activity, has tried to show the face of the invisible world in a symbolic way. This is undoubtedly the sacred dimension of art, which tells us something important about the permanent elements of human nature.

Anna Siek:

Funen Printmaking Studio is proud to be able to present two Polish graphic artists in Grafikken in June. Both Weronika Siupka and Anna Siek are both extremely experienced graphic artists, they both teach printmaking in Poland. Their graphic works are very different, but individually they are eminent within their technique.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 1st of June at 11-13:00
Everyone is welcome and Anna Siek will be present to open the exhibition.

Anna Siek:
The works in the exhibition illustrate my observations of human behavior and psyche.
In my artistic expression, I use both shape and colors, which have a symbolic message, and the figure itself, whose gestures and posture we can read a lot from.
The people shown in my graphics and paintings are eternally caught between the spiritual and material worlds, they are a wanderer who travels through two worlds, often very far apart, but still seeks answers to questions about his own existence and destiny.
The works are created using traditional printing techniques such as color linoleum, aquatint, etching, cold needle and relief printing.
